Learning to Make CC for sims 3

Taking a break from playing, I decided to finally learn how to make sims 3 clothing for my games. So looking on the internet for help has its ups and downs, but eventually, I managed to get somewhere. The software I use is Milkshape, Maya, and temporarily Marvelous Designer (I thought I'd check it out). I have to end games for what I want to make. The first CC I wanted to do was Claire's Wedding dress from Outlander when she had to marry Jamie for situation reasons and I also wanted to make a Hanbok. Over all most of the sims 3 cc that I'll make will be historical based, because there was a point in time that I really really wanted to have some historical cc for my game play but couldn't quite find what I needed; especially, in maternity wear. Down below is what I have going on so far.

Clair's Wedding Dress

This is the dress I am going for. High goals for a noob, right?! But I don't care! I love this dress and wished that this must be an attire that needs to be added to the sims world (and with a maternity option as well for those forever pregnant sims!) Love this dress so much! And Yes I am fangirling.

The pic above is how it started out a bit. I am using the Bobbyth mesh that I think is from chisami (to see why I love this body mesh so much go here). To make this dress I used Milkshape to import the .wso file that it comes in into Milkshape, so that I could export it as an .obj file, so that I can then import it into Maya which will be where I will be making the dress. If there's nothing but circle and squares going on, I'm so sorry for confusing you with the import and export, I'll explain all that later in another post, since this post is more like an update. But anyways, in Maya I pulled up the original image of Claire (the first image I showed you guys) in the front and side orthographic camera views in Maya. In the image above, I managed to rough out the shape of the skirt and the corset of the gown.

Now in this image, I used the Edge Loop tool to add definition and detail to the skirt (I regret some of it when I get to the UV editing part and I think a little later on I will once again regret it). I manage to get some type of bodice in there too. It's not all the way like how it is in the picture, but I was happy with it (for the moment that is). Also, I managed to start on the sleeve by using cylinders.

Ok, here in this picture, I changed the bodice so that it curved forward a bit like in the picture. It wasn't exact, but I loved it more and more as I worked on it. I also finished the sleeve and made a duplicate of it so that I could translate the one sleeve that I made over to the other arm. Some of the line definition on the skirt of the gown was lessened and rearranged a bit so that issues in UV editing wouldn't be too much of a hassle and to help solve some pockets of open space between the bodice and the skirt that had come about.

Hanbok

Now the Hanbok wasn't really modeled after any particular design. I pretty much made it up as I went while looking at different pictures on pinterest (here's the board I pinned some of the stuff I was looking at).

To do the Hanbok, I stuck with the Bobbyth mesh and imported the obj file into Marvelous Designer (I had just installed it and wanted to play with my new shiny temporary toy). Kind of making up my own pattern I made something like the under clothing for a Hanbok (Sorry for not using proper terms for the clothing articles and layers, but will do next time). I was super happy to finally get something to look like some type of clothing on the Avatar (the bobbyth mesh), but then, of course, I got frustrated because it wasn't as poofy as I wanted it to be.

With steam shooting from my ears, I searched high and low for how I could do it and found a video on youtube here. After watching the video, I had a Duh moment, because it was done the same way as if you were sewing. For some reason, I thought the lines had to be the same length to be sewn together. Silly me! But any who this is what I got--after some pattern changes as well. The three images below are just some lovely side views, back and frontish views of the garment.

Alright, in this picture above, I managed to add on the jacket like how wanted it and even played with the fabric options the last panel on the right in the picture. I was also in the progress of adding cuffs to the jacket when I took this picture. The two pictures below are some lovely side and back for a better see.

This is the Hanbok all done, but in the photo above and below I switched out the avatar with a pregnant morph of the bobbyth mesh. You can slightly tell that it's a pregnant morph when you look at the side view below.

For now, that's all I have for you guys! Until next post!
